Supporting your child's learning at home

What to expect in the Early Years Foundation Stage- a guide for parents The ‘What to expect’ document is so useful for families. It can help you understand the types of things your child should be doing at what stage in terms of their communication, play and knowledge. This is based on an average child in the foundation stage, some children progress more quickly, some are slower. Some children have additional needs and will not meet milestones at this suggested pace. It can be helpful though for you to look at where you think your child is, celebrate their successes, and seek support if you think you need to. What I would say though is your child is unique. My favourite analogy is putting popcorn in a pan - they don’t all pop at the same time. Mrs Ottewell, Head Teacher
