Our Topic this term is:

Who lives in a house like this?

In Phonics, we will begin by playing lots of listening games, and practice orally segmenting and blending. We will then move onto learning our Set 1 sounds and tricky words. We will practice recognising and writing these letters, and begin to identify words that begin with these sounds.

In Literacy, we will be begin by focusing on our own houses and families, identifying similarities and differences between ourselves and our new friends. We will then use a Talk4Writing approach to learn the story of the Three Little Pigs. We will be retelling the story using actions and props, and will be sequencing the story. After we know the story really well, we will begin to look at alternative stories such as the 'Three Little Wolves' and the 'Three Little Fish'.

In Maths, we will spend this term focusing on recognising and representing numerals to 10. We will be representing these numbers using objects, movements, sounds, drawings and symbols. We will also be exploring using different shapes to create patterns and be learning some basic shape names.
