Engage: What is a Bridge? How does the bridge in this story help or save the goats?

Christians celebrate Jesus 'saving' people through his death and resurrection at Easter. This unit develops imagery and vocabulary around 'saving' / 'rescuing' to help children to begin to understand the beliefs Christians hold.

Listen: Watch the Three Billy Goats Gruff video link below.

Make: Have a go at building a small-world bridge and make some goat/troll puppets or you could use toy characters. Use these resources to retell this story.

Discuss:

Why did the Billy Goats need the bridge?

How did the bridge save them from starving?

Who tried to stop them crossing?

How would they have crossed without the bridge?

Observe: Look at the pictures of different bridges below. Establish when a bridge might be needed/useful? Can you build your own bridge using sticks, lego or another material?
