22.02.21 This term we begin our new theme: Superheroes!
This week we will be learning about some of the real superheroes within our community- Doctors and Nurses. Please follow click this link to complete the Oak Academy sessions over three days: Oak Academy
Session 1: To understand what it means to have a job
In this set of lessons we learn about jobs. In today’s lesson with Miss Hughes, we learn what it means to have a job. We look at different types of job and decide what would be our dream job. We consider what we would need to do in this role and practise for the future by acting it out with our teddies
Session 2: To explain what a doctor does
In today's lesson, we join Miss Sidenius in learning about what doctors do to help us and how they treat people when they are ill. We will have a go at role playing being a doctor and writing a prescription for our patient. To extend this lesson, you could talk about the difference between visiting the GP to see a doctor and going to hospital.
Session 3: To identify where doctors and nurses work
In today’s lesson, we join Mrs Garrard to explore different work places. We identify where doctors, nurses and other medical professionals might work. We recall features of a hospital and then use junk modeling resources to create a representation of a hospital. You can extend this lesson by using small-world figures to act out the roles of doctors and nurses.
