In Phonics, we will be continuing to revisit our Phase 3 sounds and Phase 5 sounds. We will be focusing on applying our knowledge of these sounds to read real and alien words. We will also be practicing accurately reading and spelling common exception words such as said, you and they.
In Literacy, we will be exploring the story of Fatou Fetch The Water. We will be using Talk4Writing to learn to retell the story with actions and expression. Once we know the story really well, we will be innovating to create our own versions by changing some key aspects like the main character. Afterwards, we will be exploring poetry with rhyme, and using what we have learnt about African Culture to write our own poems.
In Maths, we will be learning to count in steps of 2 and 5 accurately and quickly. We will then use this knowledge to solve simple problems. We will also be exploring fractions, this will involve recognising half and quarters.
In Science, we will be learning all about plants. We will be planting our own beans and watching them grow over the course of the term. We will be thinking carefully about what plants need to grow, and exploring what happens if they do not get these things! We also be identifying different plants and tress, and identifying different parts of common plants.
In DT, we will be exploring African Masks. We will start by looking at the key features of African Masks, before designing and creating our own masks. We will then evaluate our masks against a set design criteria.
