In Phonics, we will be continuing to revisit our Phase 3 sounds and Phase 5 sounds. We will be focusing on applying our knowledge of these sounds to read real and alien words. We will also be practicing accurately reading and spelling common exception words such as said, you and they.
In Literacy, we will be exploring the story of Little Red Red Riding Hood. We will be using Talk4Writing to learn to retell the story with actions and expression. Once we know the story really well, we will be innovating to create our own versions by changing some key aspects like the main character. Afterwards, we will be exploring non-fiction writing writing a recount of the events of Little Red Riding Hood from the perspective of the Woodcutter.
In Maths, we will be learning to count in steps of 2 and 5 accurately and quickly. We will then use this knowledge to solve simple problems. We will then be exploring measure, learning to use related vocabulary correctly. We will be using non-standard units to measure and compare objects.
In Science, we will be learning all about plants. We will be planting our own beans and watching them grow over the course of the term. We will be thinking carefully about what plants need to grow, and exploring what happens if they do not get these things! We also be identifying different plants and tress, and identifying different parts of common plants.
