Our topic this term is:
In Phonics lessons, the children are continuing to review Phase 3 and 5 sounds. The children are expected to apply these sounds effectively in their reading and writing across the curriculum. They will also be learning how to read and write common exception words, as well as developing their understanding of alternative spelling patterns.
In English lessons, the children are learning about the Great Fire of London. They will be using descriptive language (including the power-of-three adjectives and similes) and will be applying their imaginative ideas when writing diaries in the style of Samuel Pepys. The children will also be learning about the history of Plymouth, and will be producing non-fiction texts about the local area.
In Maths lessons, the children are developing their understanding of multiplication and division. They are learning to recall multiplication facts, and will apply their knowledge and understanding to a range of problem solving activities.
