Our Topic this term is:
In Phonics, we will be recapping our Phase 3 sounds and tricky words. We will be focusing on applying our knowledge of sounds to read and write simple words and sentences.
We will start the term with a delivery of Chicken eggs. We will be watching the eggs hatch and the grow. We will be learning all about the life cycle of a chicken and how to care for the little chicks. Afterwards, we will be taking a trip to Pennywell Farm to find out all about farm life, have some cuddles with the animals, and even have the opportunity to milk the goats!
In Literacy, we will be using non-fiction texts to find out about life on the farm, including the important jobs that farmers do. We will also be using a Talk4Writing approach to learn and retell the stories 'Chicken Licken' and 'Rosie's Walk'.
In Maths, we will be learning all about doubling, halving and sharing. We will use objects and pictures to represent our mathematical thinking and ideas. We will also continue to learning about 2D and 3D shapes and will be using our knowledge to identify shapes by descriptions of their properties. We will also be learning about time and money. We will be measuring time in simple ways, and finding out how much we can do in 1 minute!
